what treats are best for degus?
what treats can you give degus? i have treat that are meant for hamsters, rats, rabbits and chinchilla so would they be alright for degus? and what fruit and veg can they eat? and what brand of food should you feed them?
Degus can eat guinea pig pellets, not mix, and chinchilla pellets. It’s best to feed them a mixture of both.
With regards to treats, they love rice cakes, just make sure they have no added sugar or anything. Another favourite with mine is puffed wheat, again no added sugar. They can eat nuts, but sparingly. Other treats can be vegetables, but only tiny amounts, generally the size of your thumbnail. Always give treats sparingly though, as too much can make them fat, which could in turn make them more prone to develop diabetes!
