in a small bowl, and a very large bowl of timothy hay, i let him graze around my yard, and ocasionaly ill sprinckle peas, or shreaded carrot, or watermellon in his food bowl, but not much, just like a small baby carrot, or small cut up piece of watermellon or a small handful of peas, by the way hes ten weaks and 2 days old
Oh my goodness, he’s only 2 1/2 months old!
Anyway, at this age, you need to be feeding him a mixture of alfalfa and Timothy hay, and slowly weaning him off of the alfalfa hay. He should have an unlimited amount of hay every day. Here’s your “hay plan” over the course of 5 weeks:
WEEK 1: 4 parts alfalfa hay
WEEK 2 : 3 parts alfalfa hay, 1 part timothy hay
WEEK 3: 2 parts alfalfa hay, 2 parts timothy hay
WEEK 4: 1 part alfalfa hay, 3 parts timothy hay
WEEK 5: 4 parts timothy hay
Also, every day he should be getting a limited amount of pellets. The pellets you are using are not healthy. Get rabbit food that is JUST pellets, none of the little seeds and stuff. Here’s you “pellet plan” over the course of 5 weeks.
WEEK 1: nibbles of pellets, just enough to cover the bottom of the bowl.
WEEK 2: 1/8 cup of pellets every day
WEEK 3: 1/4 cup of pellets every day
WEEK 4: 1/2 cup of pellets every day
WEEK 5: 1 cup of pellets every day.
And finally, he should receive fresh fruits and veggies every day. Here’s your “fruits and veggies plan.”
WEEK 1: nibbles of vegetables, like one baby carrot and a pinch of shredded lettuce every day.
WEEK 2: 1/8 cup of veggies every day, no fruit.
WEEK 3: 1/4 cup of veggies and nibbles of fruit (like one strawberry or an apple slice) every day.
WEEK 4: 1/2 cup of veggies and 1/8 cup of fruit every day
WEEK 5: 1 cup of a mixture of veggies and fruit every day
Okay, so after that 5 week plan, you can start feeding him the diet that is marked by WEEK 5:
*4 parts Timothy hay
*1 cup of pellets
*1 cup of fruits and veggies.
