Help! Rabbit question! New bunny?

I like to leave the front part of the cage open when I’m in the room so my new rabbit has access to and from his cage. But I want to make it so that he can hop out of his cage without injuring himself. The front door is the typical metal wire. Is there anything I can do it ease his exit from his cage?

a towel will work but he may pull it off .. if he does that you could use a small piece of carpet, its heavier and harder for him to move. when he grows up he will simply jump over the door but while he is young protect him with anything soft for his feet
